Senior Reliability Engineer
Provides site‑wide strategic reliability leadership, responsible for the Reliability/Availability Strategy and its governance. Acts as a trusted advisor to the Asset Leadership Team (ALT) and leads reliability governance. Reports to the Business Improvement Manager. Key Responsibilities
Develop, steward, and govern reliability and availability strategies for Scotford, using benchmarking and performance insights to set standards, define roadmaps, and lead governance reviews. Define decision criteria and support to prioritise reliability/availability investments, present recommendations and risk/value trade‑offs to the ALT, and track delivery.Accountable for the site reliability improvement portfolio, ensuring scope, resourcing, and execution against targets. Sponsor and lead the Reliability discipline improvement plan, partnering with stakeholders to set and execute mid‑ to long‑term asset care strategies. Integrate engineering, operations, and maintenance to deliver reliability as a system outcome; adjust strategies based on performance.Deploy High Reliability Organization (HRO) principles, coach leaders and teams, and convert learning into sustained improvement. Own governance of critical reliability performance controls (e.g., Data Systems; Unplanned Downtime (UPDT)/ Operational Availability (OA) reporting) and trigger performance interventions.Lead formal audits of reliability work processes and improve interfaces to achieve intended outcomes. Diagnose and resolve complex, non‑routine problems, providing technical recommendations with measurable business impact. Champion Big Hit Management and enable disciplined learning to sustain performance improvements.Shape medium‑ to long‑term Scotford performance, influencing safety, integrity, availability, reliability, and cost through strategy and interventions. Build a repeatable performance system and learning culture embedded in work processes and leadership behaviours. Provide functional leadership through coaching, mentoring, and assurance, building reliability capability across the community.Qualifications
Legal authorization to work in Canada on a full‑time basis. Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related discipline from an accredited institution. 15 or more years of industry experience in operations, maintenance, engineering, or reliability in asset‑intensive environments. Demonstrated ability to deliver medium‑ to long‑term reliability/availability improvements using risk‑based asset care strategies, structured problem solving, and systems thinking.Proven leadership through influence across disciplines, balancing priorities and enabling delivery. Recognised SME in Reliability with knowledge of RCM, FMEA, Reliability Modelling, Lean Six Sigma, and problem‑solving methodology. Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and change‑management skills.MRTA Technical Authority Level 3 (TA3) required; candidate must already hold TA3 or commit to achieving it within an agreed timeframe.
