Position Summary The Family Coach provides individualized, strengths-based support to families through coaching, goal setting, and resource navigation to promote stability and long‑term well‑being. Managing a caseload, the role delivers home and community‑based services using a family‑centered, trauma‑informed, and culturally responsive approach. Working collaboratively with teams and community partners, the Family Coach helps connect families to supports that enhance overall wellness and positive outcomes.
Schedule
Anticipated start date: July or August 2026
Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week (full‑time, office hours)
Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends, with adjusted scheduling
Local travel required between office locations, family residences, and community events
Key Responsibilities
Provide strengths‑based coaching and support to families through regular home and community visits, fostering trust, engagement, and stability.
Use coaching techniques and assessment tools to help families identify strengths, set goals, and develop actionable service plans.
Monitor progress through ongoing follow‑ups, adapting plans to meet evolving family needs and circumstances.
Support families in building life skills, including problem‑solving, communication, and self‑advocacy, to promote independence.
Connect families to community resources and assist with navigating systems such as housing, education, healthcare, and social services.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and community partners to ensure coordinated, wraparound service delivery.
Maintain accurate documentation, reporting, and data entry in compliance with organizational standards and privacy requirements.
Education
Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Social Sciences, or a related field (or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience).
Certification
Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and vehicle
Proof of vehicle insurance, registration, and 3‑year driver abstract
Standard First Aid and CPR
Suicide Intervention
De‑escalation
Trauma‑informed Care
Training or experience using Ages and Stages Questionnaires (ASQ/ASQ‑SE) would be an asset
Training in Motivational Interviewing (MI) and/or coaching approaches would be an asset
Experience
3+ years of experience working with families in coaching, case management, or community‑based social service settings
Experience working with diverse populations, including newcomers and culturally diverse families
Knowledge of the Sustainable Livelihood Framework and its application in family support and goal planning
Knowledge of the Child, Youth and Family Enhancement Act (Alberta)
Knowledge of community resources, service networks, and referral pathways
Strong understanding of family systems and strengths‑based, family‑centered practices
Demonstrated ability to develop, implement, and monitor measurable goals and action plans
Proficiency in MS Office, SharePoint, and database systems, with strong documentation skills
Compensation And Benefits
Competitive Salary: $25.90– $34.09 per hour (based on experience and scope)
6% vacation pay + paid sick days
