Weekly work schedule: Thursday, Friday&Wednesday (Jan 6‑27 only), 08:30–15:30 (60%)

Annual salary range: $70,437‑$112,872 (at 100% appointment)

Responsibilities

Teach the lab course

HCA 120: Personal Care and Assistance

to international Health Care Assistant students in a face‑to‑face setting at the Comox Valley NIC campus.

Plan and prepare learning materials; use varied approaches to meet diverse learning needs.

Direct student learning in a positive, supportive, and caring environment.

Be available to students during scheduled office hours and classroom hours (30 hours per week).

Clearly communicate learning outcomes and assessment methods.

Design, conduct, and grade student evaluations; submit grades timely.

Maintain records of enrollment, achievements, and required documentation.

Adhere to College educational policies, contribute to strategic plan development.

Assist with inventory, enrollment management and health safety concerns.

Demonstrate competency in computer applications, online learning systems (D2L Brightspace, Kaltura), and MS Office.

Participate in department meetings, College committees, and community activities as required.

Undertake other related responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

Practical Nursing credential or BSN degree.

Two years’ experience teaching adults, preferably at post‑secondary level.

Extensive experience working with older adults.

Optional: Provincial Instructor Diploma.

Experience with Indigenous pedagogies and culture.

Current practising registration with British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM), including a clear criminal record.

CPR Level HCP required.

Valid BC driver’s licence.

Proficiency with D2L Brightspace, Kaltura, and MS Office; willingness to learn online LMS.

Required Knowledge, Skills&Abilities

Creative and motivating teaching approaches in distributed or classroom environments.

Effective teamwork, cooperative relationships, and shared team goal contribution.

Excellent organizational, time‑management, and deadline‑meeting skills.

Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Proficiency with computer applications, internet, and MS Office suite.

Other Requirements

Clear Criminal Record in accordance with Criminal Records and Review Act.

Must be able to attend on‑campus sessions; relocation to a reasonable distance required.

Provide scanned copies of transcripts or a confirmation letter if transcripts are unavailable.
