The City of Courtenay is hiring for a Parks Maintenance Worker (PMW) to ensure the care of local parks and gardens. This temporary position provides a chance to utilize practical horticultural knowledge while maintaining trails, civic landscapes, and other public areas. Successful candidates will have strong interpersonal skills and can work both independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities:• Perform general maintenance in parks and greenspaces • Manage irrigation systems and landscape plans • Demonstrate best horticultural practices for plant care • Collaborate with colleagues on maintenance tasks • Provide assistance and communicate with the public effectively

Requirements:• High school diploma or equivalent • At least 2 years of horticulture experience • Class 5 BC Driver’s License • Knowledge of coastal plant species and design principles • Capacity to perform physical tasks under varying conditions
