Senior Superintendent– Heavy Civil Concrete Infrastructure Project
Location: Vancouver Island, BC Full-Time | Permanent | Compensation: $175,000– $250,000 base + bonus + benefits + travel support About the Opportunity
This is an opportunity to join one of Canada’s leading heavy civil contractors on a major infrastructure project on Vancouver Island. We are seeking an experienced Senior Superintendent with a strong background delivering large-scale heavy civil concrete projects. Key Responsibilities
Lead all on-site construction activities for major heavy civil concrete scopes Oversee structural concrete, form work, reinforcing steel, placement, and sequencing operations Manage Superintendents, Foremen, subcontractors, and large self-perform field crews Ensure projects are executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with schedule milestonesCoordinate construction logistics, crane activities, equipment, manpower, and subcontractor scheduling Drive productivity, quality control, and field execution performance Lead daily planning meetings, safety meetings, and coordination sessions Monitor project progress and proactively resolve construction challengesCollaborate closely with Project Managers, engineers, and operations leadership Ensure compliance with project specifications, drawings, and safety regulations Support schedule planning, look-ahead coordination, and recovery planning when required Maintain strong communication with clients, consultants, and project stakeholdersWho You Are
10+ years of Superintendent experience within heavy civil construction Strong experience delivering large-scale structural concrete projects Heavy civil infrastructure projects delivering complex concrete form work operations Bridges, marine, transit, or major infrastructure assignments Proven ability to lead large crews and complex field operationsStrong understanding of concrete sequencing, structural coordination, and heavy civil construction methodologies Experience working on technically demanding, schedule-driven projects Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities Safety-focused with a strong understanding of BC construction safety standardsComfortable working overnight shifts and demanding project schedules Highly organized, accountable, and solutions-oriented Engineering or technical construction background is considered an asset Why This Role Stands Out

We are seeking an experienced Project Director with a proven background leading large-scale heavy civil construction projects, including complex concrete structures, transportation infrastructure, transit,bridges, marine works, and major civil infrastructure assignments.Key Responsibilities
Provide executive-level leadership for a major heavy civil infrastructure project Oversee all project operations including construction, commercial management, scheduling, procurement, and staffing Lead multidisciplinary project teams while working closely with executive leadership, clients, consultants, and key stakeholdersEnsure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with contractual obligations Drive project strategy, execution planning, and operational performance Manage client relationships, stakeholder coordination, and executive reporting Oversee risk management, change management, forecasting, and cost control activitiesSupport project staffing, mentorship, and team development initiatives Collaborate closely with senior operations and executive leadership teams Monitor overall project productivity, quality, and financial performance Ensure compliance with project specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirementsLead high-level planning, problem-solving, and decision-making activities throughout the project lifecycle Who You Are
15+ years of leadership experience within heavy civil or infrastructure construction Proven experience leading large-scale infrastructure projects valued in the hundreds of millions Strong background in structural concrete, heavy civil infrastructure, bridges, transportation projects, transit infrastructure, marine or major public infrastructure projectsDemonstrated success managing large project teams and complex field operations Strong commercial, contractual, and operational management experience Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills Experience working within highly technical and schedule-driven project environmentsStrong understanding of construction risk management, scheduling, and project controls Engineering, Construction Management, or related technical background is considered an asset Ability to work rotational schedules and travel for project assignments Why This Role Stands Out
