Position Summary Milestone is currently seeking a Contract Superintendent to manage all site activities performed on their designated project. This is a contract position with the potential to transition into a full‑time role, based on project needs and performance. Oversight should ensure that projects are completed safely, within schedule, and on budget.

Responsibilities

Keep training up to date in line with MECI programs.

Have a working knowledge of all HSE requirements and regulations.

Communicate effectively with MECI’s safety department and disseminate pertinent safety information to the project team and subcontractors.

Read and understand the project scope, project control estimates and client contract.

Review and understand project‑related subcontracts.

Communicate and track any changes to project scope, requests for additional work, client contract or subcontracts to the Project Manager.

Review and understand relevant project specifications and drawings.

Participate in the development of site‑specific workplans and schedules, communicating that information to the onsite team.

Implement site‑specific workplans and continually audit their effectiveness against project specifications to ensure quality and accuracy of work completed.

Provide daily updates on progress to Project Manager.

Maintain and update project schedule as required.

Shift duration and frequency are variable and dependent on project and client requirements. Shifts can include weekends, nights and holidays.

Health and Safety Read, understand, and follow MECI’s Corporate Health and Safety Program, Policy, and Procedures. Ensure health and safety is considered in the performance of all activities both on and off the job. Participation in H&S initiatives will be monitored and reviewed as necessary.

Education Requirements

Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.

Environmental/Civil Construction experience or diploma is an asset but not required.

Any equivalent combination of education and/or experiences from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Experience Required

Experience in a Superintendent role is required.

Environmental/Civil and construction industry experience is an asset.

Experience in the safe operation of heavy equipment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Team player with strong communication skills both written and verbal.

Disciplined, motivated self‑starter capable of high performance with minimal supervision.

Excellent planning and organization skills.

Able to work in a fast‑paced environment with attention to detail.

Able to understand and prioritize requests.

Must be able to work outdoors in all types of weather.

Intermediate computer skills (MS Excel, MS Word, MS Office).

Ability to interpret and read engineering drawings / specifications.

Basics of Supervisor Training certificate is a requirement.

First Aid CPR Level C is required.

Work Environment

Onsite work environment is outdoors and subject to all weather conditions. Must be willing to work out of different regions within Canada including but not limited to Northern remote regions (Nunavut, Yukon). Shift duration and frequency are variable and dependent on project and client requirements. Shifts can include weekends, nights and holidays.
