Job Description MAJOR DUTIES:
Concept, design, and implement complete machine vision solutions that meet or exceed customer expectations. Involve in projects from quoting to site acceptance, providing technical guidance and supporting ATS Imaging standard products.
Specific Responsibilities
Participate in quote preparation to ensure vision design meets process requirements.
Write Requirement, Design, Verification, Validation and Calibration Specifications.
Define performance requirements across various industries.
Determine opto‑mechanical, electrical, and software interface requirements.
Conceptualize turnkey solutions including lighting, optics, cameras and algorithms.
Perform optical and lighting analysis and simulation.
Develop image‑processing applications and include application GUI’s.
Integrate and test vision modules on the machine during integration and buy‑off phases.
Apply standard practices and modules to maximize system design efficiency.
Coordinate project activities with suppliers and internal departments.
Guide project teams on critical paths, dependencies and design specifications.
Assist in machine systems engineering, analysis and design.
Support the Imaging Director in supervising Vision Designers.
Manage project scope and report status, including hardware and labour costs versus budget.
Determine module capability using statistical verification and validation techniques.
Identify high‑risk areas, evaluate mitigations and conduct Proof of Principle or Engineering Studies.
Drive continuous vision design improvements on production machines.
Develop design standards and procedures.
Evaluate new products in machine vision and optics‑based manufacturing.
Participate in new product brainstorming sessions.
Manage established product offerings and drive improvement ideas.
Assist Marketing&Sales of current and future imaging products.
Achieve customer satisfaction and provide prompt, courteous service throughout the cycle.
Ensure compliance with ATS Code of Business Conduct and health&safety rules.
Lead or work as part of a multidisciplinary project team; strong written&oral communication.
Qualifications Education:
Post‑secondary degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science or Physics is required; Masters, PhD or equivalent preferred.
Experience:
Minimum five years of machine vision, motion control and/or robotics system design and integration in factory automation. Proficiency in at least one object‑oriented programming language and image‑processing algorithms. Preferred background in optical, illumination and vision system development.

Work safely, report concerns and comply with procedures.
Handle safety devices only following lock‑out‑tagout.
Attend required training and report incidents.
Maintain protective equipment and report unsafe conditions.
