Intermediate/Senior Civil Designer, Burlington

Reporting to the Principals and/or Project Managers, the Intermediate/Senior Project Designer is directly involved with assisting in managing and coordinating many of the development and execution activities required to bring assigned projects to successful completion. This individual will perform the routine aspects of civil engineering assignments in a detail oriented and logical manner, such as drafting and project design, and may also assist in technical analysis for the proposed projects. The individual will work collaboratively with internal and external team members to perform tasks contributing to project success.

Primary Responsibilities

Uses AutoCAD Civil 3D for design and drawing preparation

Prepares and organizes permit applications with municipalities and/or agencies

Liaises with approval agencies and obtains required approvals and permits

Preparation of reports, drawings and other design documents prior to submission

Coordinates utility designs

Creates preliminary and final design for grading and servicing plans, storm water management plans, section and detail drawings, and base plans

Interprets topographic information required for design

Prepare quantity take-offs and cost estimates

Ensures quality control of design and production drawing work

May undertake investigations and prepares technical studies related to transportation engineering, traffic control, traffic signage and by-laws related to traffic and vehicular control

Attends site visits to confirm background information

Attends team meetings as necessary

Collaboration with both internal and external team members to support hte overall success of projects

Assists with collecting data and gathering information to support design decisions

Assists in basic interpretation and verifying compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards and practices

Performs a variety of tasks which may include analyzing proposed project solutions to ensure structural reliability, resource efficiency and cost effectiveness

Preparation of functional servicing and stormwater management reports in support of draft plan and site plan applications

Prepares water/wastewater servicing calculations for proposed land development projects

Prepares storm water management quantity and quality calculations using applicable stormwater software

Obtains all required permits and approvals from Municipalities or governing agencies in a consistent and timely manner

Provides capable oversight and supervision of junior designers to ensure the delivery of well-prepared reports, drawings and other design documents prior to submission deadlines

Collaborates effectively with the design, project management and construction teams to ensure successful project completion, contributing fully by demonstrating a capable, logical, creative and cooperative approach to problem solving and execution

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $70,000.00-$90,000.00 per year
