Overview As a member of the military, Human Resources Administrators provide administrative and general human resources support to all military activities.

Automated pay systems and information management
Maintenance of personnel records
Work Environment Human Resources Administrators are employed at all Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) bases in Canada, on ships, and overseas, in support of the Royal Canadian Navy, Canadian Army, or Royal Canadian Air Force operations. They may also serve in special operation units, medical organizations, recruiting offices, schools, reserve units, NATO/UN positions, and other specialized units throughout the CAF. Opportunities are also available with embassies in countries where Canada has a military attaché.
Upon completing the required training, Regular Force members may be assigned to a base with potential relocation. Reserve members, however, can work within their local reserve unit, usually one night per week and some weekends as a minimum, with possibilities of full‑time employment.
Entry Requirements
Direct Entry Options: No previous work experience or career related skills are required.
Minimum education: Completion of provincial Grade 10 (Secondary 4 in Quebec) with Grade 10 Applied Math and Grade 10 English or French.
Foreign education may be accepted.
Training The first stage is the Basic Military Qualification course (BMQ) at the Canadian Forces Leadership and Recruit School or Borden, Ontario. This course provides core skills and the Canadian Armed Forces physical fitness standard.
Human Resources Administrators attend the Canadian Forces Logistics Training Centre (CFLTC) in Borden, Ontario. The training consists of 90 days and covers:
Process correspondence
Creating a Unit Personnel File
Creating a Pay File
Creating a Leave Record
Process Posting
Process Payroll Accuracy
Process Leave
Process a Rank Change
Process a Member
Terms of Service
Processing Medals, Honours and Awards
Modify Marital Status
Modify Dependent
Additional specialized training may be offered, including Recruiting Administration, Release Administration, Deployed Operations, Compliance and Verification. Advanced training options include Policy, Compensation and Benefits Analysis, Civilian Personnel Management, and Military Personnel Management.
Part‑Time Options This position is available for part‑time employment with the Primary Reserve at certain locations across Canada. Reserve Force members typically serve part‑time in their community and may work while attending school or employed in a civilian job. They are paid during training and are not posted or subject to a military move, although they may volunteer to move to another base. They may also volunteer for deployment on a military mission within or outside Canada.
