Production Scheduler The Production Scheduler is responsible for planning and overseeing the production process to ensure that manufacturing operations meet customer demand efficiently and on time. This includes forecasting production needs, developing production schedules, coordinating resources, and monitoring inventory levels. The role involves collaborating with various departments to ensure smooth production flow, optimize use of resources, and minimize downtime. The Production Scheduler ensures that production targets are met while maintaining high standards of quality and cost-effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities
Develop and manage production schedules to meet customer demand and business goals while optimizing capacity and resource utilization.
Coordinate production planning activities, including material planning, staffing, and machine capacity.
Prepare weekly and monthly production plans, taking into account forecasts, inventory levels, and production requirements.
Ensure schedules are balanced and achievable, optimizing the use of labor, machinery, and materials.
Work with the purchasing and inventory teams to ensure that materials and components are available for production and avoid production delays.
Monitor inventory levels to ensure that there are no shortages or overstock situations, adjusting production schedules based on inventory status.
Track production progress and identify potential delays or bottlenecks.
Continuously evaluate the schedule for accuracy, efficiency, and potential improvements.
Maintain a balance between inventory levels, production capacity, and customer order fulfillment.
Analyze production data to forecast future scheduling needs.
Provide regular updates to management regarding the status of the schedule, including potential delays or issues.
Generate reports on production performance, schedule adherence, and capacity utilization.
Continuously look for opportunities to optimize scheduling processes and improve operational efficiency.
Implement best practices and lean manufacturing techniques to enhance production schedules.
Collaborate with the procurement, production, and logistics teams to ensure timely and efficient flow of materials, components, and finished goods.
Communicate with sales, customer service, and operations teams to ensure alignment between production schedules and customer orders.
Required Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
Relevant certifications such as APICS CPIM (Certified in Production and Inventory Management) or similar are a plus.
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in production planning, scheduling, or supply chain management, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
Strong understanding of production processes, inventory management, and material requirements planning (MRP).
Proficiency in using planning and scheduling software, ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle), and Microsoft Excel. Strong communication skills for working across multiple departments and teams.
Ability to solve problems and make quick decisions in a fast‑paced production environment.
Attention to detail and strong data entry accuracy.
Experience working in a manufacturing environment with knowledge of lean manufacturing or just‑in‑time (JIT) inventory systems.
Familiarity with ERP software and demand planning tools (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics).
Knowledge of supply chain management, forecasting, and demand planning.
