Description
Who we are: TemboSocial is a growing employee engagement software company headquartered in Toronto's Junction neighbourhood. As an industry leader in integrated Intranet solutions, TemboSocial serves enterprises that are looking to leverage their Intranet investment and inspire employee performance. TemboSocial has been serving global brands like Royal Bank, BMW, TD Bank, and DTE Energy for over 15 years and reach more than 1,000,000 users each day.
What you'll be doing: You will work in a small team building high performance, highly redundant systems with 100% availability spanning multiple years.
We are a Linux (RHEL) shop and have several core technologies under the hood, including:
Apache
MySQL (MariaDB)
MySQL Cluster
Galera Cluster
PHP
RabbitMQ
You're fit for this role if: You understand that everything can be automated and actively pursue this goal. You always look at the long term maintainability of a change, not just the up front cost. Your thirst for knowledge is unquenchable. You carry large projects from initial concept to across the finish line with minimal supervision.
Requirements Must be comfortable automating things using the following tools:
Puppet
Bash
Linux (RHEL)
Git
PXE
Kickstart
screen
sudo
You will be responsible for managing multiple networks, both physical and virtual. You must be familiar with all of the following, and how they fit together:
routing
iptables
Linux bridge devices
Linux tap devices
tcpdump
netcat
curl
rsync
ssh
OpenVPN
100% availability does not happen by accident. You should be familiar with building redundant and highly available systems at scale, including the following aspects:
load balancing
MySQL replication
scale up vs scale out
identifying and removing SPoF
We run hundreds of VMs using KVM on company owned hardware. You should be familiar with hardware selection, configuration, deployment, and monitoring. Additionally, you should understand how to evaluate system and network performance, both physical and virtual, including all of the following:
IOPS
memory usage
cpu usage
memory overcommit
CPU overcommit
bandwidth usage
network latency
We primarly service large enterprise customers, and have matching security requirements. You should be familiar with security best practices and implementation, including:
HTTPS
TLS
Disk encryption (LUKS)
network hardening
service hardening
web application hardening
Once you are up to speed, you will participate in a rotating 24x7 production support role.
