Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express, as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. We are also building new and improved rapid transit, including GO Expansion, Light Rail Transit routes, and major expansions to Toronto’s subway system, to get people where they need to go, better, faster and easier. Assist Senior Planning Officer in managing Departure Lists, Platform Allocation and Signage Develop and evaluate proposals for new/expanded bus services to accommodate growth, changing markets, and provincial/municipal transportation plans. Track and analyse passenger travel behaviour, patterns, and needs to identify improvements to services and/or infrastructure.Ensuring the development and maintenance of detailed platform allocations and stop amenities. Represent Service Design on internal/external construction projects, and other studies that potentially impact infrastructure bus services. Prepare reports and presentations outlining the problem/issue, development and evaluation of alternatives, recommendations, and implementation actions.Compiles descriptive performance statistics and recommends improvements to procedures, work methods and service changes. Other duties as assigned. What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?
Knowledge of transportation and/or planning normally attained through completion of a 3-year community college program in Transportation Planning or Transportation Engineering Technology; or any combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent. Demonstrated years of progressively responsible experience in the transportation/transit field with demonstrated project management and technical analysis skills.Knowledge of ArcGIS and geospatial analysis. Experience with Python, SQL, R, and PowerBI would be an asset. Specific knowledge of bus operations and scheduling is required. Knowledge of the theory, principles, and practices of transit planning and service delivery is essential, along with the ability to integrate transit planning with corporate objectives, market research, and other transportation planning.Proficiency in the use of relevant software; must be proficient in data management, quantitative analysis, ridership forecasting, and cost estimation; knowledge of, or experience with, Hastus or other relevant scheduling systems. Strong analytical, oral and written communication and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to work as a team member and provide leadership when required.Ability to work independently along with good organizational skills is essential. Note: This role will have a strong focus on transit scheduling initiatives.
