This is a contract positionthat will provide support within our Artistic department throughout our 2026/2027 season during thethree, two-month work periodslistedbelow.Additionalopportunities may arise in future seasons, depending on operational needs.PURPOSE OF ROLE The Canadian Opera Company isin the midst ofan exciting new chapter of artistic ambition and creative evolution. As the company prepares for its 2026/2027 season, the Canadian Opera Company is seeking an experienced and adaptable,personable,and detail-orientedProduction Assistant.As part of the company’s ongoing seasonalneeds, the COC regularly engagesa numberofProduction Assistants to supportour productionsandanticipatehiring multiple individuals through this posting, with additional opportunities that may arise in future seasons depending on operational needs. As animportantambassador of theCOC’sArtistic team, the Production Assistantprovidesclear, rapid communicationtotheCOC’s artists,createsa welcoming environmentforvisitinginternational artists, and ensuresasmoothrehearsal and performance run by providing critical support to the company’sStage Management team.This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the success of an operaproductionas it takes shapefromthe rehearsal roomsall the wayto the COC’s mainstage.Reporting to the Senior Manager Scheduling, the ideal candidate is someone who thrives in a fast-paced,creative environment,iseager to assist artists and artistic staff in the planning and run of rehearsals, and has a keen eye for detail in producing a variety of documentationincluding the maintenance ofcontact databases.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Creating all signage for dressing rooms, water bottles, chorus,supernumeraryname tags, call boards,baskets,and folders Creating sign– in sheets for Principals, Chorus, Supers,and Children Copying and distributing production notes Maintaining the scheduling call boards Phoning/emailingcast members with their revised schedule and keeping arecord logUpdating cast phone lists Scheduling light walkers whenshowsmove to thetheatre Assisting Stage Management when needed during rehearsals and tech period Being at the performance calls working under Stage Management for show duties Assisting Scheduling Manager as required and otherduties asassignedKEY REQUIREMENTS Working knowledge of theatre An interest in opera Education in the field of technical theatre/stage management Ability to multi-taskefficiently within a fast-paced environment Keen attention to detail A friendly disposition An ability to work well with others CONTRACT DATESThe incumbent will need to be available for morning, daytime, and evening shifts including long hours while in tech rehearsals at the theatre Contract Periods:

August 10-October 26, 2026 December 28-February 21, 2027 March 15-May 30, 2027
